No compromise against any activity that is against Islam, says Religious Affairs Minister
PETALING JAYA: The Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) will not compromise when it comes to any activity that goes against Islamic teachings, says Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) said that the department will work with authorities to investigate the controversial “Thai Hot Guy” event.
He added that the event involving male waiters dressed in women’s lingerie is irresponsible and insensitive to Muslims who will be observing Ramadan.
Mohd Naim said that the Prime Minister’s Department had received reports that the “Thai Hot Guy” event would reportedly be held at the Privacy Club Tun Razak in Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur.
“We have instructed Jawi to work with authorities to investigate the organisers behind the event as they will be uncompromising against any activity that is against Islam,” he said in a statement.
Posters of the event went viral on social media on Tuesday (March 21), featuring photos of male waiters dressed in women’s lingerie.
The event had been cancelled following a meeting between the police and organisers.
