Sanusi denies IGP’s claim he was unreachable
ALOR SETAR: Sanusi Nor has denied Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain’s claim that the police were unable to reach him or his aides, which led to his arrest early yesterday morning.
At a press conference here today, the caretaker Kedah menteri besar said he had been in touch with the police since Monday night.
He also said he has screenshots of his WhatsApp conversations with the police, which he has asked a high-ranking police officer to send to Razarudin.
At a press conference at Bukit Aman yesterday, Razarudin explained that the police arrested Sanusi early yesterday morning as they were unable to reach the PAS leader ahead of his court appearance.
Razarudin said numerous calls to Sanusi and his aides were “rejected”, and Sanusi was arrested to “ensure that he attended court to hear the charges against him”.
Sanusi, who is also the Perikatan Nasional election director, was charged with two counts of sedition against royalty.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges, which relate to his speech at a ceramah in Gombak on July 11.
