‘Seven BN Members of Parliament vacating seats is just a rumour’ – Zahid

SHAH ALAM – Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi reminded that the mandate and responsibility given as Members of Parliament are to represent the party, not themselves.
According to him, this matter has been signed by them in pledges and documents sealed in front of him.

Hence, he characterized the claim that seven Members of Parliament from the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition would vacate their seats as mere rumors, as they are bound by these pledges.

“It’s just hearsay, and we’ll see that the most important thing is to wait until the end of the term.

“If they want to take political action, on the contrary, we must consider that the mandate and responsibility were given to them to represent the party and not themselves,” he said after the Closing Ceremony of the Madani Ride by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) & Ipoh Super Biker’s Club (ISBC) in conjunction with the 216th Police Commemoration Day and the Month of Independence 2023 at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters today.

Also present were the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, and the Director of the Department of Internal Security and Public Order (JKDNKA) of Bukit Aman, Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali.

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Chairman of BN stated that any actions they wish to take, they should wait until the end of the term.

“If they want to take action, I think it’s better for them to wait until the end of the term for their own benefit,” he said.

Yesterday, a member of Umno’s Supreme Council Datuk Lokman Noor Adam in a recorded video, claimed that seven BN Members of Parliament would vacate their seats.

Out of that number, four are from Johor, one from Sabah, one from Pahang, and one from a northern state of the country.
