JOHOR BARU: Former Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) elected representative Datuk Mohd Izhar Ahmad (pic) has joined Amanah.
The former Larkin assemblyman and Johor executive councillor handed over his form to Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu in a ceramah at Taman Uda Utama here on Sunday (Sept 3) night.
He won the Larkin seat during the 14th General Election (GE14) representing Bersatu, which at that time was under Pakatan Harapan, in a three cornered fight with a majority of 8,590 votes.
Mohd Izhar left Bersatu claiming to lost faith in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s leadership in January last year before the Johor state election was held some three months later.
On Saturday night (Sept 2), former PAS and Bukit Pasir assemblyman Najib Lep along with 50 other party members have also joined Amanah.
Najib won the Bukit Pasir state seat in GE14 with a 1,883 majority in a straight fight against Umno’s Noriah Mahat.
He was the only PAS assemblyman in Johor until the dissolution of the state assembly in 2022.
In the state election, Najib left his former party and contested the same seat as an Independent candidate.
In October last year, he joined Umno and has now moved to Amanah.
