‘He must have his own reasons,’ says Perak MB on PN’s Iskandar Dzulkarnain pledging support for Anwar
IPOH: Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid must have his own reasons in declaring his support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
The Perak Mentri Besar said while he did not know why, he believed Iskandar Dzulkarnain’s statement would have an “impact”.
“Maybe he wants to ask for allocations from the Prime Minister.
“He must have his own reasons, I don’t know,” he said in a press conference after the Meet the Customers Day at Stadium Indera Mulia here on Thursday (Oct 12).
“He would need to inform the (Parliament) Speaker to be placed with the government backbenchers.

“There will be ramifications from his announcement,” he said, adding that the anti-party hopping law would need to be referred to for any outcome.
Iskandar Dzulkarnain had earlier Thursday declared his support for Anwar, saying the move was to ease the burden faced by his constituents over the rising cost of living.
Iskandar Dzulkarnain of Perikatan Nasional said his decision, which took effect on Thursday (Oct 12), was to see if Anwar would uphold his pledge regarding allocations for lawmakers.
He also said that he could no longer stand to see his constituency being left behind and neglected just because of political differences.
Saarani also believed that with Iskandar Dzulkarnain’s support, the Federal Government would have two-thirds majority support to pass Bills.
“The government now has 147 (MPs), just one less for two-third majority.
“With one more support, regardless of whether he party hops or not, will add one more vote to pass a Bill when it comes to a time to make a decision that needs two-thirds majority,” he said.
“(As) he is not quitting his party. He is free to support any Bills,” he added.
