3 new Covid-19 cases among flood victims

The Health Ministry reported three new Covid-19 cases among flood victims as of 3pm today.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the total number of positive cases among flood victims to 469.

To date, 55 temporary flood relief centres (PPS) were still in operation, including 46 in Johor, six in Pahang, and three in Melaka, where flooding still occurred.

He said no new Covid-19 cases were detected in PPS, with the total number of cases remaining at 15.

Dr Noor Hisham also said nine new cases of infectious diseases were detected among flood victims. Eight of the cases involved acute respiratory infections, while one case had a skin disease.

Meanwhile, 2,888 new Covid-19 cases were reported as of noon today, raising the cumulative number of positive cases to 2,786,219.

Of the total, 323 were imported cases involving 287 Malaysians and 36 foreigners.

“Of the 2,888 new cases today, 36 cases or 1.2 per cent are in categories three, four and five, while 2,852 or 98.8 per cent were in categories one and two,” he said in a statement today.

248 patients were being warded in the intensive care unit, of which 206 were confirmed Covid-19 cases, 42 suspected, probable and under investigation cases, while a total of 117 patients require ventilators.

Dr Noor Hisham said the national infectivity rate (Rt) was at 0.97, with five states reporting an Rt value of 1.00 and above.

The states were Labuan (1.12), Sabah (1.06), Melaka (1.04), Kuala Lumpur (1.03), and Negri Sembilan (1.00).

The remaining states reported an Rt value of between 0.99 and 0.85, with Sarawak logging the lowest Rt.
