IPOH: A woman was killed in an accident involving five lorries and a bus at KM202.4 southbound on the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Kerian OCPD Supt Juna Yusoff said the victim, 41, died of severe head and chest injuries in the accident, which occurred around noon on Thursday (Nov 2).

“Based on the investigation, the driver of a lorry heading to Taiping from Bukit Merah lost control and collided with a bus in front of it. The bus then slid forward and crashed into the other vehicles.

“The lorry driver had his wife and their daughter in the vehicle,” he said

He said another man suffered minor injuries in the incident.

Separately, another accident occurred at KM102 of the Ipoh-Butterworth trunk road at 6.30pm in Kerian on the same day.

Supt Juna said a 51-year-old motorcyclist died after being hit by a car from the opposite direction.

“Our investigation revealed that the car was driven by a 44-year-old man, who was heading to Semanggol from Bagan Serai.

“The car driver tried to overtake another car but failed and collided with the victim’s motorcycle,” he said in another statement.

“The victim died at the scene and his cause of death has been determined as severe head injury due to a road traffic collision,” he said.

Both cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transportation Act 1987, for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
