Let voters decide, says BN man up against ex-colleague Mas Ermieyati

MELAKA: Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Tanjung Bidara candidate, Ab Rauf Yusof, said he will not touch on “inappropriate subjects” about his opponents during the election campaign.

Instead, he said, he will leave it to the voters to decide “the most deserving” candidate to represent them in the state assembly.

Ab Rauf is up against former Umno colleague Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who is contesting under Perikatan Nasional (PN) this time around, and Pakatan Harapan’s Zainal Hassan.

He told reporters after nominations today the clash will test “how voters in Tanjung Bidara will evaluate a candidate who had been given a mandate before under BN, but had changed parties and returned to contest against them”, a reference to Mas Ermieyati.

“I consider this clash a struggle between parties. The party that is seen as more principled will be chosen by the people. I don’t care who contests (against me).”

He said his manifesto will be announced on Nov 10.

On his plans for the constituency, Ab Rauf said he would do his best to attract tourists to help the more than 25 chalet operators in the area.

He will also work with Telekom Malaysia to improve internet connectivity to improve the experience for visitors.
