Anwar: “Talks Are Ongoing” PH Still Undecided On Muda Joining In For Next GE

Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had shut down the suggestion that the Opposition front had rejected the Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party (Muda) application to become the coalition’s member.

According to Anwar, there was progress in negotiations with Muda regarding their application to join PH.

“Not true, we are negotiating (and) there is progress,” Anwar was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini.

Anwar said this after attending a PKR Central Leadership Council meeting at the party’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya last night.

Yesterday, SuaraTV, citing a source, reported that PH Presidential Council had decided to reject Muda’s application to join the coalition.

Instead, the portal reported that PH will only form an electoral pact with the party led by Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The report also stated that PH too would form an electoral pact with another opposition party, Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) in facing the 15th General Election that will be held soon.

PH formed a committee last month to hold negotiations with MUDA and PSM after both parties expressed their desire to work officially with the coalition.

The committee consists of PKR Vice President Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, DAP Organizational Secretary Steven Sim Chee Keong, Amanah Youth Leader Mohd Hasbie Muda and UPKO Vice President Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Meanwhile, PKR Information Chief Fahmi Fadzil said that the decision regarding MUDA’s application to join PH will be made as early as this Wednesday.

“The President’s Council will decide… Wait for the official statement as early as this Wednesday,” said the Lembah Pantai MP.

MUDA’s application to join PH was firmly rejected by PKR Youth who claims that MUDA will not gets support from the coalition’s grassroots.
