IPOH: An employment agency owner was charged in the Sessions Court here today with 48 counts of misappropriation of property amounting to RM30,000 between 2021 and last year.

The accused, Fauziah Mustafa, 47, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to her before judge, Ainul Shahrin Mohamad.

According to the charge sheet, she failed to hand over Work Preparation Allowance (EPK) amounting to RM30,000 entrusted by the Social Security Organisation (Socso) to her employees under her company, FMZ Worldwide Ventures.

The offences were allegedly committed at the Klebang Maybank here between January 2021 and May 2022.



The charges were framed under Section 405 of the Penal Code and are punishable under Section 406 of the same Act.

If found guilty, she could face imprisonment of not more than 10 years, with whipping, and are also liable to a fine.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Maziyah Mansor and prosecuting officer Mohd Shafiqzan Suhaimi prosecuted while the accused did not represent by a lawyer.

Ainul set bail at RM20,000 for all charges, with one surety and the court set Mac 2 for mention.
