KUALA LUMPUR: The police will leave no stone unturned in tracking down those who threatened Penang police chief Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin (pic).

“Stern action will be taken against those who try to threaten and intimidate our officers in dispensing their duties to eradicate illegal activities and crime nationwide,” Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said in a statement on Monday (June 5).

He said police have received a report on the incident where a warning letter was sent to the Penang police chief at state headquarters.



And He said the letter was sent through the post and was received on June 1.

He said the envelope also contained six “hell notes” and a note warning the Penang police to stop aggressive operations against loan sharks in the state,” he said, adding that the letter also contained threats against the Penang police chief.

He said there were also threats to set fire to shops and police stations if their demands were not met.

“We take this matter seriously and operations involving the CID, Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) and Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) have been started to track down those involved.

“Investigations are also being conducted by the Timur Laut police CID under Section 507 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation by anonymous communication,” he said.

On Saturday (June 3), Comm Khaw described the threats he received as normal and was a risk police faced by police in carrying out their duties to fight crime.



“Threats or intimidation like these are always faced by the police in carrying out their duties to combat illegal activities or syndicates.

“As Penang chief of police,, the entire contingent and I will not compromise or conspire with any party that carries out illegal activities,” he said in a statement on Saturday (June 4) night.

He said his team would also continue to take strict action against those who threaten him or the Penang police contingent.
