KOTA KINABALU: A 42-year-old man washing his clothes by a river in the Kinabatangan district was snatched and killed in a crocodile attack.

The body of estate worker Kamirun Malul was recovered about 500m from the place he was attacked at Ladang Maisang Sime Darby in Sukau at about 3pm Monday (Oct 23).

According to the Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Services Department, it received a distress call at 3pm stating that the victim who was washing his clothes and bathing at the river had gone missing after being attacked by a crocodile.

However, villagers had already found the body further down the river and taken it to the victim’s family home.

A department spokesman said the body was later handed over to the police for further action.

This is the fourth case in a month involving suspected crocodile attacks in various districts of Sabah.

Three other cases occurred in Kota Belud, Lahad Datu and Tawau districts but all three victims have yet to found.
