Hajiji claims enough support to stay on as chief minister

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today claims he has the support of 44 out of 79 assemblymen, which seemingly gives him enough power to continue helming the state.

According to a report by English daily The Star, Hajiji said that out of the 44 assemblymen, a total of 29 were Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) members, seven from Pakatan Harapan, five from Barisan Nasional, and one from PAS.

“With this support, I remain as chief minister and the state under my leadership remains strong and intact,” he told reporters outside his official residence in Sri Gaya, Kota Kinabalu.

When asked about the state cabinet, he said that a cabinet reshuffle will be made soon.

“For those who wish to dispute my post as chief minister under the law, they are welcome to bring the matter to court,” he said.

Hajiji said that statutory declarations have been submitted to the Sabah head of state Tun Juhar Mahiruddin yesterday evening.

Also present were Sabah Pakatan chairman Datuk Christina Liew, Datuk Shahelmey Yahya, Datuk Ewon Benedick and Sabah PAS secretary Aliakbar Gulasan.

There was no flood; only I was accused,” Zahid claims.
