PENDANG – Pas central elections director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said he would welcome former Rembau member of parliament Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar into the Perikatan Nasional (PN) fold ahead of state elections.

The Kedah Menteri Besar said he hoped that rumours of Khairy joining one of PN’s component parties would become a reality as the party welcomed quality leaders from Umno, adding that Khairy would bring a positive effect and strengthen PN.

“I hope it is true. Let those who are good come in, those who were not can stay on their (PH) side,” he said when met at the handover of title deeds, temporary occupation license, extension title and land tax at Cenderawasih Hall, here, on Tuesday.

Sanusi said PN must be open to any individuals sacked or suspended by Umno to join the party if they were interested.

“Those casted out of Umno are good individuals with great potential, Nobody would say Khairy, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Tan Sri Noh Omar, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Datuk Seri Hisammuddin Hussein weren’t great, they are well renowned in Malaysia,” he said.

Khairy on Monday stated his interest to contest in the Selangor State Election.

He said several offers were made including the position of Menteri Besar if he won.

He had not disclosed the political party that had made the offer and he did not have any discussions to establish a new party.
