PETALING JAYA: An officer and six policemen believed to be stationed in Selangor were arrested in relation to a theft reported in Penang.

In a Harian Metro report, Penang police chief Khaw Kok Chin confirmed that they were remanded for a day and released on police bail yesterday.

“Further investigations are being conducted under Section 380 of the Penal Code (for theft),” he said.

Quoting a source, the report said a 40-year-old man residing in Air Hitam, Penang, was apprehended by police on Oct 27 on suspicion of being involved in a burglary in Selayang, Selangor.

Police confiscated his belongings and detained him until Nov 3.

The source said that after his release, the man, who works as a plumber, returned home to find that some electronic items and other things worth about RM10,000 were missing.

He then lodged a police report after suspecting that the items were stolen during the police raid.
