SHAH ALAM – The happiest day for a bride turns into a sad one as her beloved mother passes away 30 minutes after her wedding ceremony.

This incident was shared by her close friend, Mohd Asmawie, 32, on TikTok with the permission of the bride, Nurul Atiqah, 32, who got married last Saturday.

He said Atiqah, accompanied by her husband, rushed to the hospital when relatives informed her that her mother was in a critical condition at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL).

“As soon as she arrived, Ika’s mother drew her last breath.

“The day that should have been the happiest after becoming a married couple turned into the saddest moment for my best friend.

“Ika and her husband returned to the wedding ceremony about an hour after the incident even though they were in a sad state to honour the guests who came from far before handling the funeral services,” he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.

Asmawie said Nurul Atiqah’s mother was admitted to the hospital two days before the ceremony due to a stroke.

However, the wedding ceremony continued because the wedding preparations had been done for a long time, since a year ago, in addition to the groom’s entourage who came from Kedah.

“It’s true that Ika had planned from the beginning not to do a joint ceremony, only to do the obligatory one (aqad nikah) because her mother and father are not healthy.

“Ika’s father has also been in a wheelchair since two or three years ago after heart bypass surgery and diabetes,” he said.
