HULU SELANGOR: The presence of top leaders from Barisan Nasional (BN) and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) assisting the DAP candidate campaign for the Kuala Kubu Bharu by-election proved that there is no friction between the parties, says BN secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

Zambry said this disproves certain factions that had claimed that leaders within the Unity Government were divided and refused to lend a hand to each other.

“Tonight, we can witness firsthand the unity demonstrated by party comrades within the unity government. This shows a good and positive momentum.

“Tonight, it is evident that all communities, particularly the Indian voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu, have gathered support from various parties. For us, we want to ensure that candidates from the unity government win in the upcoming by-election,” he said.

He said this to reporters after attending the unity night in conjunction with 2024 Labour Day here.

Also in attendance were MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M Saravanan, State Umno chief Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardinand Sports and Youth Minister Hannah Yeoh.

Among others were Kuching member of parliament Dr Kelvin Yii, Jelutong member of parliament (MP) RSN Rayer and former Batu Kawan member of parliament Kasthuri Patto.

Zambry, who is also the Higher Education Minister, said the significant presence of the Indian community is a positive indication of their support for the government.

He hoped that this support would continue until the run-up to the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election on May 11.

In response to efforts to sway Indian voters to boycott PH, Zambry said it is a norm during campaigns, as democratic process allows for differing views.

However, he maintained confidence in the maturity of the Indian community in Kuala Kubu Baharu to select a well-functioning government that prioritises delivering quality services to the community.

“It is common in campaigns because in the democratic process, everyone expresses their views.

“But I believe that the Indian community in the context of Kuala Kubu Bharu is mature,” he said.
