Transport Ministry to discuss declining rates with Grab representatives

The Transport Ministry will call representatives from ehailing company Grab to explain the declining rate for delivery riders.

Its minister Anthony Loke said discussions will also be held with the related ministries.

“We will study the memorandum and discuss it with the related ministries. Grab representatives will be called up to explain,” he told reporters here on Saturday (Feb 17).

This comes after a group of delivery riders handed a memorandum to the Transport Ministry on Friday (Feb 16) to seek Putrajaya’s intervention over declining payment rates.

It was received by the ministry’s deputy secretary-general (Management), Nor Fuad Abdul Hamid, from the group’s representative, Mohd Adie Ali.

Mohd Adie said riders would like Grab to reinstate the previous rate of RM5 per delivery, as delivery riders were dissatisfied with the new rates of RM4 to RM4.50.

The riders also asked for improvements to the reimbursement mechanism for cancelled deliveries.
