13,827 flood victims in Johor, Sabah, Pahang

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 13,827 flood victims in three states affected by the natural disaster have been housed in 73 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) this morning.
In Johor, the number of flood victims increased slightly to 3,480 people as of 8am today, compared to 3,328 last night and were housed in 35 PPS in several districts in the state.
The Johor Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) announced that Mersing remained the district with the highest number of victims with 1,792 people, followed by Kluang (780), Kota Tinggi (417), Batu Pahat (209), Segamat (115) and Tangkak (15).
Meanwhile, four rivers in the state have exceeded the danger level, namely Sungai Lenik in Ladang Chaah, Segamat with a reading of 5.96 meters (m); Sungai Kahang in Kampung Contoh, Kluang (14.53m); Sungai Muar in Bukit Kepong, Muar (3.33m) and Sungai Endau, Mersing (2.90m).
In Sabah, the number of flood victims in the state increased slightly to 10,347 people from 3,569 families as of 8 this morning. They have been placed in 34 PPS in six districts, compared to 10,312 victims from 3,564 families last night.

The JPBN Secretariat in a statement said another PPS in Lahad Datu was opened at 9pm housing 23 victims from five families.

According to the Sabah JPBN statement, a total of 2,160 people (795 families) were placed in nine PPS in Pitas, while 664 people (187 families) were transferred to nine PPS in Paitan.
In Tawau, 109 people (24 families) were transferred to a PPS and in Telupid a total of 21 people (five families) took refuge in two PPS.
JPBN Pahang also reported that the number of flood victims in Rompin this morning remained at 353 people from 106 families with four PPS still operating, namely PPS Kampung Setajam accommodating 165 victims, PPS Kampung Rekoh (122), PPS Balai Raya Bukit Lepas (40) and PPS Balai Raya Kampung Trail (26).
Sungai Keratong in Rompin remained over the danger level of 23m when it recorded a reading of 24.36m this morning, compared to 24.45m last night. — BERNAMA
