Auxiliary cop held for crude FB post against Anwar
JOHOR BARU: An auxiliary policewoman has been arrested for allegedly making a crude remark about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on social media.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said a report was lodged by a senior police officer at 10.22pm on Thursday (Sept 28).
“The officer came across a Facebook post (with) a comment made referring to an individual with a motive to humiliate that person, which received several more comments on that particular post,” he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 29).
Comm Kamarul Zaman added that initial investigations found that the suspect was an auxiliary police personnel in Mersing.
He added that further checks were made on the account holder with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

“We then arrested the 39-year-old suspect in Endau, Mersing at 10.58pm on the same night the report was lodged,” he said.
Comm Kamarul Zaman added that the case was being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult; Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities; and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace.
He reminded the public to be careful when using social media and refrain from making comments and posts that insult others or cause public anxiety.
