Three killed, three hurt in separate crashes in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Three people have been killed and three others seriously hurt in separate accidents around Sabah on Wednesday (Nov 8).

In the first mishap, two men died after their vehicle crashed by the side of the road near a restaurant in Kolombong near here at around 4.30am.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said the victims were 17-year-old Razkhan Martin, who is disabled, and another male whose identity has yet to be ascertained.

Both died on the spot, he added.

“Three other men sustained serious injuries in the incident,” he said in a statement.

He said an emergency call came in at 4.32am and a team from the Lintas Fire Station responded.

“Medical officials on the scene declared two victims dead and (gave first aid to the) three injured victims before they were taken to the hospital,” said Hamsa.

In Semporna district, a man in his 40s died after he was believed to have lost control of his vehicle at Tagasan, along the Tawau-Semporna road, at around 2pm.

Hamsa said a call was received at 2.16pm, and the responding team found the victim trapped in the wreckage of his overturned vehicle.

“Firemen managed to extricate the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers,” he added.

He said the victim’s body was handed over to the police for further action.
