Teresa Kok to sue Kepala Batas MP after letter of demand goes unanswered
KUALA LUMPUR: A second government MP has initiated legal action against Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad for alleged defamatory remarks made during an election campaign in Kemaman recently.
Teresa Kok (PH-Seputeh) said she sent a letter of demand on Nov 10 asking Siti Mastura to retract, withdraw and apologise for her defamatory statement in the speech.
Kok then said at a press conference at the Parliament media room here on Thursday (Nov 16) that she had not received any response from Siti Mastura to date and directed her lawyer to proceed with the legal action.
“The suit will be filed soon,” she added.
On Nov 10, DAP national chairman Lim Guan Eng also initiated criminal action and legal proceedings against Siti Mastura in response to her allegations linking several DAP leaders to Singapore’s Lee Kuan Yew and former Communist Party of Malaya chief Chin Peng.

On Tuesday (Nov 14), Bukit Aman recorded Siti Mastura’s statement over her claims that Lim has family ties with the late Chin Peng.

On her session at Bukit Aman, Siti Mastura’s lawyer Ahmad Amzar Ahmad Azlan said around 10 questions were asked by the police.

“She was summoned over a speech made on the Kemaman by-election campaign trail and we have cooperated with the police in answering their questions.
“We also handed over references that we have collected to the police,” he said.

In a now-viral video, Siti also linked Lim and his wife, Betty Chew Gek Cheng, to other DAP leaders, namely Anthony Loke, Kok, Nga Kor Ming and Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham.
The Kepala Batas MP also claimed that DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang was a cousin of former Singapore prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.
