PETALING JAYA: Barisan Nasional’s win in Pelangai is a sign that the green wave is not advancing in Pahang, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Instead, the Umno president said it showed that only the blue and red wave was increasingly accepted by Malaysians, referring to the colours of Barisan and Pakatan Harapan respectively.
“I would like to thank all Pelangai voters and my congratulations to Barisan candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam for winning the seat,” said Ahmad Zahid in a statement on Saturday (Oct 7).
He also congratulated Pahang Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is also Pahang Barisan chairman, for his role in ensuring victory for the coalition.

“I thank you, well done and congratulations!
“This is a sign that there is no green wave in the state of Pahang and that there is only the blue and red wave that Malaysians are increasingly accepting,” he said.
Barisan candidate Amizar scored a huge win in the Pelangai by-election, defeating its main rival Perikatan Nasional with a 2,949-vote majority.
Amizar, who polled 7,324 votes, was announced as the winner by the Election Commission’s returning officer Datuk Muhammad Shahid Ismail on Saturday (Oct 7).
Perikatan candidate Kasim Samat managed to rake in 4,375 votes while Independent Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli garnered 47 votes, effectively losing his deposit.
