Isham’s sacking a lesson for all Umno leaders, says Jeram assemblyman

PETALING JAYA: Isham Jalil’s sacking as an Umno supreme council member should send a message to other party leaders that the party will not tolerate attempts by anyone to divide it, says Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir.

The Jeram assemblyman also said that it was a wise move to sack Isham as no individual is more important than Umno itself as a party.

“The sacking of Isham will also show that Umno will not compromise with any individuals trying to split the party and also undermine harmony among members,” Mohd Zaidy said in a statement on Facebook on Thursday (Dec 7).

Mohd Zaidy also said that Isham’s sacking is a lesson to other leaders, even regular members, that they must always be disciplined on party affairs.

“Therefore, as a grassroots leader, I would like to thank the party’s leadership, especially party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, for carrying out the party’s disciplinary duties by sacking.

“For others in the party, please remain loyal to the party’s aspirations. Believe in our struggles and do your best so that Umno will be the choice of Malays,” said Mohd Zaidy.

“I’m confident that if we prioritise our struggles, Umno will remain as the choice of Malays and Malaysians as a whole,” added Mohd Zaidy.

On Wednesday (Dec 6), talk was rife that Isham would be sacked as an Umno supreme council member, following recent criticisms against Umno’s decision to work with DAP.

Ahmad Zahid had said Isham should air his views before the Umno supreme council meeting on Wednesday night.

However, Isham said he would not attend as a sign of protest against Umno’s decision to work with DAP.

An Umno supreme council member who attended the meeting said Isham was sacked as a supreme council member with immediate effect.
