11 civil servants arrested for drug use during raid in Batu Pahat
JOHOR BARU: Police arrested 11 civil servants after they tested positive for drugs during a raid on an entertainment centre in Batu Pahat.
Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar said the raid was conducted by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) on Sunday (April 28) between 1am and 10am.
“Our inspection revealed that the entertainment centre had operated beyond the allowed time, and there were 49 people inside the premises who were busy partying.
“The urine test revealed that 30 of them, consisting of 24 locals and six foreigners, tested positive for methamphetamine, ketamine, and benzodiazepine.
“This includes 11 male civil servants aged 24 to 49 and an underage 17-year-old boy,” he said during a press conference at the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters on Sunday (April 28).

Kumar added that the suspects, 24 men and six women, are all aged 17 to 52 years old.
“We have also arrested a 29-year-old man who is believed to be the premises keeper,” he said, adding that an investigation was currently underway to find out where the suspects get their drugs from.
All of the suspects are currently awaiting remand orders.
The case is being investigated under Section 39(b), Section 55B, and Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act of 1959/63 for violating the requirement of their visit pass, hiring foreign workers without a permit, and entering the country without valid travel documents.
The case is also being investigated under Section 11(2) of the Johor Entertainment Places Enactment for operating an entertainment centre beyond the allowed time and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act of 1952 for consuming drugs.
