‘I can postpone my concert, it’s not a problem’ ― Jay Chou responds to angry Malaysian football fans
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 7 — The King of Mandopop Jay Chou has come forward to say he is willing to postpone his concert, as long as he can sing for his fans.
In a series of Instagram story posts yesterday, Chou responded to frustrated football fans who vented seating at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Cup 2022.
According to Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Noor Azman Rahman, 21,000 seats had to be vacated as they were blocked by structures used in Chou’s concert.
“Malaysian football fans, I know how important football is to you. I can postpone my concert, it’s not a problem,” Chou wrote in his post.
“But the most important thing is, you should be asking the football association or the venue management whether they allow me to postpone the concert.”
“I don’t have a problem with it as long as I can sing to my fans.”
Chou’s fans took to social media shortly after to demand football fans complain to the organiser or stadium management, not the singer of the concert.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh had addressed the issue on Twitter saying Chou’s team had made their stadium booking earlier on March 13, 2019, as opposed to FAM who booked the venue for the event on August 18 2022.
She said that Chou’s team had delayed their set-up for two and a half days to accommodate the match.
“The concert needs 14 days to set up the stage, with 500 local and 185 international crew members, 45 pieces of heavy machinery, 200 speakers and 800 lights.”
Yeoh added that both the concert and the AFF Cup are of ‘international standard’ and cannot be simply cancelled, the New Straits Times reported.
Chou is set to perform at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on January 15 as part of his Carnival World Tour.
