JOHOR BARU: Four women from India who were forced into becoming sex workers have been rescued, says Johor police chief Comm M. Kumar.

He said police found the victims, aged from 24 to 39, during a raid at an apartment in Larkin Idaman here at 2.15pm on Friday (March 15).

“Police arrested a 32-year-old local male who tested positive for drugs and a 36-year-old woman from India who was the manager of the prostitution den.

“Investigation showed that the victims were duped into coming to Malaysia, supposedly to work in information technology-related jobs and domestic helpers,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (March 16).

Comm Kumar added that when the victims arrived in Malaysia, they were locked up and forced to become prostitutes and were paid RM2,300 per month.
