KANGAR – Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will increase their control of the state borders following a bombing incident in Sadao, Songkhla on Tuesday.Perlis Police Chief Datuk Surina Saad said roadblocks will be conducted in several areas.

“There are three roadblocks that will be enforced by the General Operations Team (PGA) involving Wang Kelian, Padang Besar and Chiping and other roadblocks will be managed under the Padang Besar District Police Headquarters (IPD).

” We will also tighten the security in other areas throughout the border of the state which will involve PGA officers and personnel,” she told Sinar Harian on Wednesday.



Surina said Malaysians were advised to be careful when travelling to areas of conflict.

She said even though they have yet to receive any advice regarding the security aspects from the Malaysia General Consulate in Songkhla, the police were conducting strict checks at the country’s borders.

She said as of now, no orders were given from the National Security Council (MKN) for Malaysians prohibiting Malaysians from entering the Thailand following the second bombing incident that happened on the railway near Sadao.

“There are no restrictions towards entering Thailand due to the incident however, we are reminded to be more vigilant with any possibilities,” she said.



Surina advised Malaysians to refer to Wisma Putra regarding the latest situation in Thailand before planning a trip to ensure their safety.

“As a preparation, it is best to get advice from Wisma Putra because it involves two countries,” she explained.

On Tuesday, three State Railway of Thailand (SRT) workers had died while four were injured when a bomb exploded at the railway track on Saturday in Sadao, Songkhla.

The incident happened at 6.30am (7.30am Malaysia time) when seven SRT workers were at the scene to carry out repair works to the track that was damaged due to a previous bombing.



The second explosion occurred around 400 metres from the first incident.

Worries began to increase among the people at the state borders, especially those who have planned trips to Hatyai Thailand for the new year.
