Don’t challenge me, PM tells Muhyiddin

At a press conference, Anwar maintained it was clear that there were processes and procedures that were not followed, adding that companies “involving families” were also involved.

Yesterday, the prime minister said he had been informed by Treasury officials that there was a serious violation of standard procedure in Putrajaya’s expenditure under Muhyiddin’s stewardship.

This included excessive procurements and high mark-ups.

“A large portion of the (RM530 billion) came from the Employees Provident Fund (special withdrawal schemes), which is the people’s own money, now he admits it.

“But there are tens of billions that were allocated where breaches of procedure were found,” said Anwar.

Last night, Muhyiddin told Anwar to ask former finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz whether there was any misappropriation of funds in the RM530 billion spent by the PN-led government.

Insisting that he did not do anything wrong, Muhyiddin said he was ready to be brought to court over the matter.

However, Anwar said PN was not as clean as it claimed to be on the election campaign trail.

Meanwhile, the prime minister also told PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan not to be hasty, after he threatened Anwar with legal action for implying that gaming companies had partially funded PN’s election campaign.

Anwar reminded Takiyuddin that as the finance minister now he had the relevant “files” with him.

Earlier, Takiyuddin urged Anwar to furnish evidence to back his “wild accusation” that gaming companies, particularly those that took part in “special draws”, helped fund PN’s election campaign.
