PETALING JAYA: The number of flood victims in Johor continued to decline with 37,503 people seeking shelter in 119 temporary flood relief centres in three districts as of 8pm today, Bernama reported.

This is a drop from the 38,456 people who were seeking shelter at relief centres this afternoon.

“The highest number of victims are in Batu Pahat with 37,114, followed by Muar (211), Segamat (154) and Tangkak (24),” the state disaster management committee said in a statement.



It said two rivers in Batu Pahat have breached the danger level.

The reading at Bekok Dam in Sungai Bekok is at 19.39m and Sungai Senggarang in Senggarang at 3.62m while Sungai Muar in Bukit Kepong recorded a reading of 3.33m.

Melaka and Pahang have fully recovered from the floods that hit the states early this month.
