PETALING JAYA: The police have confirmed the arrest of three men for allegedly trespassing Selangor menteri besar Amirudin Shari’s official residence.

Shah Alam police chief Iqbal Ibrahim said the suspects were arrested yesterday and will be remanded for two days until tomorrow.

“The suspects in this case are three Malay men aged between 31 and 35 years and working as media practitioners in a local media outlet,” he said in a statement.

“They have no past criminal records.

He added that all three suspects claimed to have a meeting to attend at the Selangor menteri besar’s official residence, but they did not have an official invitation from the Selangor menteri besar’s office.

The case is being investigated for criminal trespassing under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries a three-month jail term or a RM1,000 fine, or both, upon conviction.

Iqbal urged those with information on the case to contact investigating officer Mira Noraien Norashid at 011-11430765.

When contacted about the case last night, Iqbal told FMT an arrest had been made, but he was not able to give further details at the time.

A report and a video posted on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday claimed that a news reporter was caught trespassing on the Selangor menteri besar’s official residence.

The supervisor at Amirudin’s residence, Musa Zin, lodged a police report saying he was informed that one of the men was caught attempting to enter the residence by hiding in the back seat of a car that was about to enter the residence.

The other occupant was apparently scheduled to attend a meeting there.

The suspect was believed to have been denied permission to enter the residence before the alleged attempt to trespass, according to the report.
