Sanusi to reveal ‘true plot’ behind Kedah FA graft probe

PETALING JAYA: Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor says he will reveal the “true plot” behind a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation involving the Kedah Football Association.

In a media interview, he accused the MACC of being used for political purposes, Harian Metro reported.

“None of those (involved in the MACC probe) are rich. They are all poor. Some can’t even afford to fill their car with petrol.

“Some were laid off from work and are trying to recover by doing various jobs,” he told the local tabloid.

According to Sanusi, who is the Kedah FA president, the association had been financed through donations since it began and there were “envious and resentful parties” when it settled its debts.

He said “baseless” and slanderous accusations were made about certain projects involving the Kedah FA.

“I will uncover this plot when it’s time,” he was quoted as saying.

Yesterday, Kedah FA vice-president Radhi Mat Din confirmed that its CEO, Zulkifli Che Haron, was among four pepole detained in an investigation into a corruption case involving RM6 million in 2020.

The RM6 million was reportedly given as kickbacks to allow a company owner to obtain a tender to build a racetrack and another project to operate and maintain five water reservoir plants in the state.
